  • SHOW RULES:
  • - Cell phones must be set on silent or turned off. Never take a phone call during the show. If it can’t wait, please step outside.
  • - Table Talk – must be kept to a minimum. Lafayette Comedy reserves the right to remove loud, talkative patrons. No refunds will be given.
  • - No Flash Photography permitted
  • - No Recording: Each comedian owns the rights to their own material, however, do not.
  • - Do Not Heckle the Comedian: Heckling is interrupting the performance to upstage, disparage, or throw off the comedian. It is never acceptable, and the quickest way to ruin the show for everyone. It is also the quickest way to ejection.
  • - Do Not Interrupt the Comedian: The common excuse for this is “I’m helping the comedian” and “that’s what you’re supposed to do at Comedy Clubs!” Comedians are professionals; they do not need help. Exception: If a comedian directly engages you in conversation, it is ok to respond. Some of the best comedy happens this way and can make for a memorable experience. Be ready to let it go when the bit is over.
  • - We reserve the right to remove any audience members who are disruptive during the show without a refund.

“The combination of Joe’s calming vocalization and inventive writing is a thing of magic. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more enjoyable show.” ~ Buzzfeed

"Closed the show and destroyed the crowd with an audience participation bit that caused howling fits.” ~ Punchline Magazine

Known for his inventive writing and playful persona, Joe Zimmerman brings insightful observations and a curiosity to the stage that achieves a level of joy rarely accomplished. His jokes are first and foremost on himself, while also touching on pop culture, relationships, history, nature, and pop-science. A regular at New York city’s iconic Comedy Cellar, Joe grew up in Morgantown, WV, and began his comedy career in North Carolina after graduating from Davidson College.

His television appearances include The Late Late Show with James Corden, John Oliver’s New York Comedy Central show, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Last Comic Standing, and his own Comedy Central Half Hour

His debut album Smiling at Wolves reached number one on the iTunes comedy charts and his second,
Innocence is a favorite on SiriusXM and Pandora. Joe also hosts his own podcast and is a humor writer,
having published in The New Yorker, and New York Times.

Aside from headlining comedy clubs, he tours regularly in theaters with comedy legend Brian Regan, and arenas with rising superstar Nate Bargatze.

Joe is also a writer, having contributed humor pieces to The New Yorker and The New York Times, and has an illustrated children’s book and short novel set to come out in 2025 and 2026.

Nate Bargatze in The Interrobang “My pick for breakout comedian of the year is Joe Zimmerman. I am a huge fan of Joe. Unbelievably funny. It’s his time. He’s going to make some noise.”

John Mulaney in Vulture: “51 Comedians Reveal Jokes They’d Like to Steal If They Could” “I would hook, line, and sinker steal this bit where Joe Zimmerman just takes you through true facts of Andrew Jackson’s life and then has the best jokes about them. I’ve listened to it on YouTube like a hundred times. I have fantasies sometimes about doing it…. I just love it. I was like, Oh, that’s so funny to take an audience through real facts about Andrew Jackson, who’s on no one’s mind… and it destroys. That is my absolute grand envy. I want that joke so bad.”

Bert Kreisher on The Bertcast “Dude, Joe Zimmerman is very [expletive] funny, very [expletive] funny.”

Maria Bamford on Twitter “Great comic alert! Great writing and timing, and in your town soon—see the future!”
